Five-Year Worry Test

I don’t know how, but one of my mom’s famous quotes is circulating in a mailing list. She does use the computer and emails, but she is not an Internet surfer except to check out things that her children suggest.

This quote, by far, stands out the most of all of her Momisms. Growing up (and now), I’ve always been a worrier like my grandmother, her mother. She would say, “Take the five-year test. If you won’t remember it in five years, it’s not worth getting upset or worried about it.”

It’s a shame, I don’t remember that advice often enough during the times when I need it most. Yes, I’ve even read Dale Carnegie’s How to Stop Worrying and Start Living and made notes to keep in my planner, so I can review them. But I still friggin’ worry anyway.
