Laura Carlson provides two great links in her long-time excellent resource, Web Design References. I don’t know how long I’ve been reading it… but most certainly over five years.

Accessible Web Design provides US disability statistics: Measurement and sources.

Jesblog looks at captioning and YouTube. “Anyway, a solution to finding a quick and inexpensive way of captioning short videos is coming closer to fruition. Exciting times. Stay tuned!”

I do wish sites that post videos would also post or link to transcripts (where available) or at least write a summary paragraph telling the basic content of the video. The speaker on my laptop is not loud enough for me to hear the soundtrack of videos. When all they post is the video, it’s very frustrating.

I wish there was some waly to address this issue. I’ve left comments on sites. Some of them respond to the comment by writing a short summary of the video that led me to comment, but they don’t change their overall practice.

Any ideas?

Know any good audio accessory I can plug into my laptop? Would a loop and my telecoil setting do it?
